TMC MPs tear papers as Ashwini Vaishnaw reads statement in Rajya Sabha on espionage | India News

NEW DELHI: On Thursday, opposition TMC MPs tore papers and threw them into the air, throwing the Rajya Sabha into chaos when IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw read a statement about the alleged espionage using company spyware Israeli Pegasus.
TMC and other members of the opposition party rushed to the well of the House when Vaishnaw was called in to make a statement on the matter.
They shouted slogans and tore papers that appeared to be copies of the statement that the minister was going to make.
When papers were released into the air, the minister was unable to complete his statement and instead left a copy on the House table.
Vice President Harivansh called on members to desist from non-parliamentary behavior before suspending House proceedings for the remainder of the day.
Opposition MPs also stalled proceedings in the early part of the day, forcing two postponements without even allowing the presentation of officially listed documents.
They shouted slogans on alleged spies and other topics.
