Cong MP files motion for postponement in Lok Sabha on farmers issue | India News

NEW DELHI: Congressional MP K Suresh introduced a motion to adjourn on Thursday on the farmers issue in Lok Sabha.
“The brutal suppression of the rights of the country’s farmers through the enactment of laws that impede their empowerment has sparked unrest among farmers across the country for the past eight months. Farmers’ rights to their land and products are sacrosanct and they must be protected. Government agricultural laws must be repealed and farmers must be heard, “Suresh wrote to the Secretary General of Lok Sabha.
This comes on the day when farmers will hold a protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar today, demanding the removal of three new agricultural laws.
Farmers have been protesting at the different borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three recently enacted agricultural laws: Trade in Agricultural Products and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act of 2020; the Agreement on the Empowerment and Protection of Farmers) on Price Guarantee and the Agricultural Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
So far, several rounds of talks have been held between the Center and peasant leaders to break the deadlock between the two parties.
