Distribution of Covid-19 vaccines among states carried out in a transparent manner: Center | India News


NEW DELHI: The assignment of Covid-19 vaccines to a state is made based on its population, number of cases, utilization efficiency and waste factors, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday, dismissing reports from the media alleging non-transparent distribution of injections.
The ministry said the allegations of non-transparent distribution of vaccines between states are “completely baseless and not fully reported.”
He clarified that the Government of India continues to allocate Covid-19 vaccines to the states and territories of the union in a transparent manner based on the population of a state, the number of cases, its efficiency of use and waste factors.
In a statement, the ministry said that India’s National Covid Vaccination Program is based on scientific and epidemiological evidence, WHO guidelines and global best practices.
Anchored in a systematic end-to-end planning, it is implemented through the effective and efficient participation of the states and UT and the people in general.
There have been some media reports alleging the non-transparent allocation of Covid-19 vaccines to states, according to the statement. The ministry said the “allegations are completely baseless and not fully reported.”
It is clarified that the Government of India continues to assign Covid-19 vaccines to states and UT in a transparent manner, he stated.
Information on government of India vaccine supply, state and UT consumption, balance and unused vaccine doses available with them, along with pipeline vaccine supply is regularly shared through of press releases made by the Press Information Office, and also through other forums, the statement said.
