In the past 24 hours, 1,167 more people lost their lives to Covid, bringing the total death toll to 3,89,302.
Daily recoveries have exceeded the number of daily cases for the fortieth consecutive day, with 81,839 patients discharged in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in the country has been further reduced to 6,62,521.
Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate stands at 2.56%, less than 5% for 15 consecutive days.
After a drop, the tests rose to 16.64.360 on Monday. In total, 39,40,72,142 samples have been analyzed so far, according to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR).
In a great feat, the country administered 86.16 lakh doses of vaccine yesterday, which is the highest single-day vaccination ever achieved in the world so far, according to the Health Ministry. With this, the country has administered more than 28.87 million doses of vaccine so far. Maharashtra leads the states with 2.8 million doses of vaccines administered, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
