Cong Alleges Another Land Purchase Scam in Ayodhya; says SC, PM’s responsibility to find the truth | India News

NEW DELHI: On Sunday, Congress alleged a land purchase scam by the RAM Temple Trust in Ayodhya and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Supreme Court to “fulfill their responsibility” by ordering a court-supervised investigation to find the truth.
Congressional Chief Spokesman Randeep Surjewala alleged that a BJP leader bought 890 square meters of land in Ayodhya for Rs 20 lakh in February and sold it to the Temple Trust for a whopping Rs 2.5 million, making a profit. 1,250 percent in just 79 days.
“The leaders of the BJP are clearly complicit in this donation ‘loot’ raised for the construction of Ram Mandir. The daily revelations reflect a blatant looting of millions of donations with the active complicity of the Government of the BJP,” alleged the leader of Congress.
He said that people will never forgive anyone who misappropriates donations on behalf of Lord Ram and questioned the “silence” of the prime minister and the Supreme Court.
“Lord Ram’s temple is being built on the orders of the Supreme Court. Isn’t it the responsibility of the Supreme Court and its justices and the prime minister, who formed the Foundation, to find out the truth and investigate this?”
“Shouldn’t the Supreme Court take up the matter? The Supreme Court must do its duty … to audit all transactions under its supervision and punish the culprits,” he told reporters when asked if the part would move the Court.
“Now the question is whether the Supreme Court and the prime minister will do their duty, we leave it to their discretion,” he said.
Surjewala said that if it is someone’s responsibility, it is Prime Minister Modi when he formed this trust.
“It is not just a question of morality, but also of constitutionality,” he said, adding that now the ball is in the prime minister’s court on what action he will take.
Congress had previously alleged that the land bought for Rs 2 crore was sold for Rs 18.5 crore to the Trust “in minutes”, according to the deed of ownership registered on March 18 this year, and demanded a SC-supervised investigation into the fraud”. .
BJP leaders had responded to Congress, claiming that those who opposed the Ram temple constructions were now trying to derail it by making false and misleading accusations.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had also dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
Surjewala said that with the “facts” now in the public domain, an investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court is required to determine the truth.
Posing five questions to Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he asked: “What is the reason for Modiji-Adityanath’s intriguing silence on the blatant loot of million rupees and why are no action being taken? against sinners who openly looted funds for the construction of the Ram temple. ”
“Modi-Yogi governments must know that they cannot escape their obligatory duty, namely Raj Dharma, to punish the guilty,” said Surjewala.
