NEW DELHI: having played a role in handling the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the repeal of the article
370, national security adviser Ajit Doval has been working behind the ongoing political process in the Union territory.
The Home Office-led Center’s effort to engage with political parties would see an all-party meeting on June 24, to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The NSA has been working all along to push this political process forward in the Union territory, which used to be a state before August 2019, when Article 370 was removed, the sources said.
The NSA has also been holding meetings with junior-level leadership at different levels to learn about the situation on the ground, they said.
After the repeal of section 370, the NSA had camped in the state for many days and met with people there at a time when it was thought there would be a strong response to the central decision.
Also in the recent past, he has been involved in the process to ensure compliance with the ceasefire agreements between the Indian and Pakistani armies along the Line of Control. The arms of the two sides have also been silent for more than 110 days.
The army chief, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, has also been regularly reviewing the situation on the ground and keeping the situation under control.
