Jharkhand Reports 6 New Covid-19 Deaths, Lowest in Over a Month | India News


RANCHI: Jharkhand reported six new deaths from Covid-19, the lowest in a single day in May and June so far, bringing the death toll to 5,060, a health department bulletin said on Tuesday.
The state recorded 358 new infections, bringing the count to 3,41,576, he said.
Jharkhand now has 5,312 active cases, while a total of 3.31,204 patients have recovered from the disease, including 726 during the past 24 hours.
The recovery rate has improved to 96.96 percent, better than the national average of 93.90 percent, the bulletin said.
However, the death rate in the state remained at 1.48 percent, higher than the national average of 1.20 percent.
By May 2, it had registered a record 159 deaths.
Since the advent of the second wave of the pandemic, the death rate in the state increased from 0.9% to 1.48% and the districts of Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribag reported a high number of fatalities .
The Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, has ordered a death audit to be carried out in five districts.
In total, 88,52,665 samples were tested for Covid-19 in Jharkhand, including 45,054 as of Monday, the bulletin added.
In an attempt to combat the second wave, the state government had extended the blockade until June 10.
