Mr Bengala’s assistant BJP net arrested for fraud | India News

CALCUTTA: Kolkata police arrested a Rakhal Bera, believed to be a close associate of a former Trinamool minister who had joined BJP, on Saturday on charges of fraud. Both Trinamool and BJP members confirmed Bera’s association with the Bengali politician.
According to the FIR against Bera, he had taken Rs 2 lakh from Sujit Dey, a resident of Ashokenagar, between July and September 2019, promising Dey a job in Group D in the department of irrigation and waterways.
The FIR alleged that Bera, along with another person, had entered into a “criminal conspiracy” with other people and took the money by promising a job that was not there.
The FIR alleged that the defendants even showed Dey false letters of appointment with symbols and emblems of the Bengal government. The complainant claimed that the defendant did not provide him with a job or return his money.
The police said that, prima facie, this was not a single complaint, but that there could be several similar complaints against Bera. “We are trying to find out the other cases,” said a police source. The officer further said that more arrests are likely.
