Twitter Removes Blue Badge From Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s Personal Account | India News

NEW DELHI: In an incident showing that Twitter may remove the verified blue badge from any verified account regardless of the importance of the account holder’s position, the social media platform removed the blue badge from the vice president of Twitter’s personal identifier India. M. Venkaiah Naidu, @MVenkaiahNaidu, on Saturday.
Although, the official identifier of the Vice President of India @VPSecretariat still has the blue badge.
According to Twitter, the blue verified badge on Twitter lets people know that a public interest account is authentic. To receive the blue badge, your account must be authentic, prominent and active.
Its objective is to promote and maintain trust among users of the platform by confirming the identity of an account on Twitter so that it can be verified.
According to Twiter, the verification is part of the commitment of social media platforms to serve the public conversation by informing people about the authenticity of the accounts with the public interest in mind.
To be verified, an account must be remarkable, authentic, and active. The six notable account types that Twitter currently verifies include government companies, brands and nonprofits, news organizations and journalists, entertainment, sports and esports, activists, organizers, and other influencers.
Twitter claims that it can remove the verified blue badge and verified status from a Twitter account at any time and without prior notice if an account changes its username (@handle) or an account becomes inactive or incomplete or if the owner of the account is no longer for which position they were initially verified and they have not met our verification criteria since leaving that position.
Twitter may also remove the verified blue badge from accounts found to be in serious or repeated violation of the Twitter Rules, including spoofing or intentionally misleading people on Twitter by changing their display name or resulting bio violations. on immediate account suspension or repeated violations on Tweets, including but not limited to: hateful conduct policy, abusive behavior, glorification of violence policy, civic integrity policy, private information policy, or privacy manipulation policy platform and spam.
The verified blue badge was removed from the Indian vice president’s Twitter personal identifier due to inactivity, although several tweeters have posted screenshots of the identifiers that continue with the blue mark despite being inactive for more than a year.
“Venkaiah Naidu’s personal account was inactive for six months and the blue badge disappeared,” said a vice president official.
Meanwhile, BJP Mumbai spokesperson Suresh Nakhua questioned Twitter about the removal of the blue badge from the vice president’s Twitter account, calling it an “assault on the Constitution of India.”
“Why did @Twitter @TwitterIndia remove the blue mark from the control of Vice President of India Shri @MVenkaiahNaidu ji? This is an assault on the Constitution of India,” Nakhua tweeted today.
