PM Modi talks to Mukul Roy to ask about his wife’s health | India News

KOLKATA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with BJP National Vice President Mukul Roy on Thursday to ask about the health of his ailing wife.
Roy’s wife Krishna is receiving treatment for Covid-19 at a private hospital here.
“The prime minister spoke to my father on the phone at 10:30 am and asked him about my mother’s health,” Roy’s son Subhrangshu told PTI.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee visited Roy’s wife in hospital on Wednesday evening, while West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh also went there a few hours later.
Even when Roy is recovering from Covid-19 at home, Subhrangshu was present at the hospital when Banerjee visited him.
The visit by Banerjee, the chairman of the TMC’s youth wing, came amid speculation about Roy’s next political move.
Significantly, Subhrangshu, a former TMC MLA who joined the BJP in the footsteps of his father, recently said in a social media post that one should do some self-introspection before criticizing the government, which has come to power with the support from the people.
The post was believed to be directed at state leaders of the BJP.
Mukul Roy, Mamata Banerjee’s former lieutenant, left the TMC over alleged disagreements with the party’s top leadership on certain issues, including differences with Abhishek, the prime minister’s nephew.
