CALCUTTA: The Calcutta High Court on Monday formed a three-member Committee for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Post-Election Violence after the Assembly Elections.
The Committee will be made up of one representative from each of the State Human Rights Commission, the National Human Rights Commission, the Member Secretary and the State Legal Services Authority.
The Committee can coordinate with the police and organize the rehabilitation of people in the places to which they are entitled. If there is any dispute, it will have to be seen.
A larger court of five judges from the Calcutta High Court was listening to PIL seeking an investigation into post-election violence in West Bengal.
Several incidents of violence have been reported in various places following the declaration of the results of the assembly’s polls on May 2.
