Pictures of Mehul Choksi from Dominica surface, show him with injury marks News from India

NEW DELHI: Days after he was found and later arrested in Dominica, the first images of the Indian-born fugitive diamantaire, Mehul Choksi, surfaced on Saturday, showing him with multiple injuries.
The images, provided by AntiguaNewsRoom, show him with various injuries to his hands and his left eye, which appeared bruised and swollen.
When publishing the image, AniguaNewsRoom tweeted: “The first images of Mehul Choksi emerge behind bars.”
In an interview with ANI on May 28, Choksi’s lawyer, based in Dominica, Wayne Marsh, said that my client was kidnapped in Antigua on Sunday (May 23) and beaten.
“I noticed that he was severely beaten, his eyes were swollen and he had several burn marks on his body (apparently burned by some electronic device). He informed me that he was abducted from Jolly Harbor in Antigua and taken to Dominica by people he believed to be policemen. from India and Antigua on a ship that he described as being between 60 and 70 feet long, “Marsh told ANI.
Earlier, after taking note of the submissions made in Choksi’s habeas corpus petition, the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court prevented the Dominican authorities from removing the fugitive diamantaire from the Commonwealth of Dominica until a new hearing on the matter that is scheduled for the June 2nd.
In addition, the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, the highest court for eastern Caribbean states, including the Commonwealth of Dominica, suspended his repatriation from Dominica on Friday.
A massive manhunt was launched after Choksi disappeared and Antigua and Barbuda issued an Interpol Notice. He was tracked down and captured in Dominica on May 25.
Mehul Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi are wanted in India for allegedly diverting 13,500 million rupees of public money from the state-run Punjab National Bank (GNP) through letters of commitment.
