Railroads Delivered More Than 20,770 Tons of Oxygen to 15 States Last Month | India News

NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways has delivered more than 20,770 tons of liquid medical oxygen to 15 states over the past month to increase government efforts in the fight against coronavirus, the national carrier said on Saturday.
While 305 ‘Oxygen Express’ trains have completed their journey so far, six loaded trains are running with more than 420 tons of liquid medical oxygen in 26 tanker trucks.
Assam received its third Oxygen Express on Saturday with 80 tons of liquid medical oxygen in four tanker trucks.
Among the southern states, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana have received more than 1,600 tons of liquid medical oxygen each.
More than 20,770 tons of liquid medical oxygen were delivered to 39 cities in 15 states in more than 1,237 tanker trucks in the last month, according to the national carrier.
The ‘Oxygen Express’ trains began their deliveries 35 days ago on April 24 in Maharashtra with a load of 126 tons.
The trains delivered liquid medical oxygen to 15 states: Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Assam.
So far, 614 tons of oxygen have been discharged in Maharashtra, almost 3,731 tons in Uttar Pradesh, 656 tons in Madhya Pradesh, 5,327 tons in Delhi, 1,967 tons in Haryana, 98 tons in Rajasthan, 1,994 tons in Karnataka, 320 tons in Uttarakhand . , 1,735 tons in Tamil Nadu, 1,668 tons in Andhra Pradesh, 225 tons in Punjab, 380 tons in Kerala, 1,770 tons in Telangana, 38 tons in Jharkhand and 240 tons in Assam.
The railroads have mapped different routes with oxygen supply locations and remain ready for any emerging state needs.
States provide tanker trucks to Indian railways to carry liquid medical oxygen.
Across the country, Indian railways are picking up oxygen from places like Hapa, Baroda, Mundra in the west and Rourkela, Durgapur, Tatanagar, Angul in the east and then delivering it to Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra. Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Assam in complex operational route planning scenarios.
