More than 4 lakh of vaccine doses will be delivered to the states, UT in the next 3 days: Ministry of Health | India News


NEW DELHI: As some states are participating in floating global tenders for the supply of the covid-19 vaccine, the central government has so far provided, both through the free category and through the direct state procurement category, 22 , 77,62,450 doses of vaccine to the states and territories of the union.
In addition, more than 4 lakh (4,86,180) doses of vaccines are in the pipeline and will be received by the states and territories of the union in the next three days, the Union Ministry of Health said on Saturday.
The ministry said that more than 1,82,21,403 doses of the Covid vaccine are still available with the states and territories of the union to be
administered. “Of this, the total consumption, including waste, is 20,80,09,397 doses (based on data available at 8 am today),” he said.
The Union Ministry of Health said that so far almost 20,89,02,445 doses of vaccines have been administered as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign.
The implementation of the Phase 3 Liberalized and Accelerated Covid-19 vaccination strategy began on May 1. According to the Strategy, each month 50% of the total vaccine doses approved by the Central Drug Laboratory (CDL) of any manufacturer would be
acquired by the Government of India. It would continue to make these doses available to state governments completely free of charge, as was being done previously.
