PETA India calls on Amul to switch to vegan milk production | India News

NEW DELHI: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has asked Amul to make the decision to switch to vegan milk production.
In a letter to Amul Managing Director RS Sodhi, PETA said the dairy cooperative society should benefit from the burgeoning vegan food and milk market.
“We would like again to encourage Amul to benefit from the burgeoning vegan food and milk market, rather than wasting resources trying to fight the growing demand for plant-based products. Other companies are responding to market changes, and Amul can too, ”said PETA India.
Sodhi, while replying to a tweet from Ashwini Mahajan, national co-convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, said: “Don’t you know that dairy farmers are mostly landless? Your designs can end their only source of livelihood. Keep in mind that milk is in our faith, our traditions, our taste, our eating habits, an easy and always available source of nutrition. ”
Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative society managed by the Gujarat Milk Marketing Cooperative Federation Ltd.
