Jagdeep Dhankhar to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi-Mamata Banerjee’s meeting to review Yaas devastation | India News

KOLKATA: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to review the devastation caused by Cyclone Yaas, authorities said.
The meeting is scheduled to take place in Kalaikunda in the Paschim Medinipur district on Friday afternoon after Prime Minister Modi conducts an aerial reconnaissance of the affected areas, they said.
Dhankhar will meet the Prime Minister at Kalaikunda Air Force Station, the officials said.
“WB Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will host Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kalaikunda Air Force Station on May 28. The Prime Minister will visit #CycloneYass affected areas in WB to assess damage to life and health material, governor tweeted.
Banerjee is also scheduled to conduct an aerial reconnaissance of the affected areas during the day.
The prime minister put West Bengal’s losses due to Cyclone Yaas at 15 billion rupees.
Announcing a Rs 1 billion aid package, he said that his government will run a ‘Duare Tran’ (door help) program for affected people.
He also ordered an investigation by the finance department into the collapse of several embankments, bridges and roads that were built after Super Cyclone Amphan hit the state in May last year.
