It will not allow any unilateral change in Ladakh; Deal With China Firmly: Naravane Army Chief | India News

NEW DELHI: Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane said on Friday that the Indian Army will not allow any “unilateral change in the status quo” in LAC with China.
“The Indian military is very clear that no unilateral change in the status quo will be allowed,” Army Chief Naravane told PTI about Ladakh’s confrontation with China.
The chief also stressed the importance of disengagement at all levels, saying that India is very clear that “escalation before disengagement cannot be reduced at all friction points.”
The army chief also said that the situation along India’s northern border is “under control.”
“We are dealing with the Chinese in a firm and non-stop manner, ensuring the sanctity of our claims in eastern Ladakh,” Naravane said.
India and China have been locked in a military confrontation at multiple sticking points in eastern Ladakh since the beginning of May last year. They completed the withdrawal of troops and weapons from the north and south shores of Lake Pangong in February, following a series of military and diplomatic talks.
