India Reports More Than 2 Lakh Daily of New Covid-19 Cases; 4,157 deaths | India News
The death toll also rose to 3,11,388 with 4,157 deaths reported in a 24-hour period, data updated at 8 a.m. showed.
This is the second day in a row that the positivity rate has stayed below 10 percent, the ministry said. The weekly positivity rate has also dropped to 11.45 percent.
India’s Covid-19 count had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. India crossed the grim 2 crore milestone on May 4.
Updated data showed that the number of active cases dropped further to 24.95,591, constituting 9.19 percent of total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 89.66. percent. Active coronavirus cases in the country have declined since their last peak on May 10, 2021.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease rose to 2.43,50,816, while the fatality rate was 1.15 percent, the data showed.
India has set a record for performing the highest Covid-19 tests in a single day with more than Rs 22.17 of new tests.
According to the Indian Council for Medical Research, a total of 22,17,320 tests were performed in the last 24 hours in the country and a total of 33,48,11,496 tests have been performed so far.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 20,06,62,456 doses of vaccines have been administered so far.
