IMA Uttarakhand Sends Slander Notice to Ramdev for His Comments on Allopathy Doctors | India News

NEW DELHI: The Indian Medical Association, (IMA) Uttarakhand has sent a 1 billion rupee defamation notice to yoga guru Ramdev following his comments against allopathy doctors.
In a strongly worded letter, the IMA stated that if Ramdev does not publish a video against the statements given by him and offers a written apology within the next 15 days, then a sum of Rs 1 billion will be required from him.
On Monday, IMA’s state unit had sent a letter to the chief minister and chief secretary demanding strict action against the yoga guru.
“In the letter, it is written that there is much resentment among IMA doctors against the statement of Baba Ramdev. The Union health minister also sent a notice to Ramdev in it stating that the statement is considered incorrect, “said IMA state unit chair Dr. Ajay Khanna.
He added that the state government must crack down on Ramdev immediately.
Ramdev withdrew his remarks on allopathic medicine after receiving a forceful letter from the Union’s health minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, who called his comments “inappropriate.”
“We are not opposed to modern medical science and allopathy. We believe that allopathy has shown immense progress in surgery and the life-saving system and has served humanity. My statement has been quoted as part of a WhatsApp message that I was reading during a volunteer meeting. I’m sorry if you hurt someone’s sentiment, “Ramdev wrote in his letter to the Union’s health minister in Hindi.
IMA had also sent a legal notice to yoga guru Ramdev on Saturday about his alleged statements against allopathy and the “defamation” of scientific medicine. However, the Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust has denied the IMA’s allegations that Ramdev has misled people by making “unlearned” statements against allopathy and maligned scientific medicine.
“IMA informs our Minister of Health, a video circulating on social networks portraying the famous Yoga Guruji saying that ‘modern allopathy ek aisi stupid science aur diwaliya hai’ (modern allopathy is a stupid and failed science)”, the association said in its statement.
According to a statement by Haridwar-based Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, Yog Guru Ramdev was reading a forwarded WhatsApp message on the video that has gone viral on social media.
