Covid positivity rate up to 9.54 percent: Ministry of Health | India News


NEW DELHI: The daily Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped to 9.54 percent, while single-day recoveries continue to outnumber new cases for the twelfth day in a row, the Union Ministry of Health.
The number of active Covid-19 cases has also dropped to 25,86,782 with a net decrease of 1,33,934 cases witnessed in a 24-hour span. It now accounts for 9.60 percent of the country’s total infections.
Active cases have declined since their last peak on May 10.
“India’s daily recoveries continue to outnumber new daily cases for the twelfth consecutive day, with 3,26,850 patients recovering within 24 hours, bringing cumulative recoveries from India to 2,40,54,861.”
“A total of 20,58,112 tests were carried out in a period of 24 hours in the country and in total 33,25,94,176 tests have been carried out so far. The daily rate of positivity has been reduced and is located at 9, 54 percent today, “the ministry. saying.
“In encouraging signs for India’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, new daily cases have fallen below 2 lakh to a level seen 40 days earlier with 1.96,427 new infections recorded within 24 hours” the ministry said.
Daily new cases were 1,84,372 on April 14.
A total of 19,85,38,999 doses of vaccine have been administered through 28,41,151 sessions, according to an interim report prepared at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
These include 97,79,304 health workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 67,18,723 HCWs who have taken the second dose, 1,50,79,964 first-line workers (PDAs) who have received the first dose and 83 , 55,982 PDAs who have taken the second dose and 1,19,11,759 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 44 years who have received the first dose.
According to ministry data, vaccination doses of 12.82 lakh were administered in the 18-44 age group within 24 hours.
