India Records 2.40 Lakh Fresh Covid-19 Cases, 3,741 Deaths | India News
With the new cases, India’s Covid-19 case count rose to 2,65,30,132 and the death toll rose to 2,99,266, ministry data updated at 8 a.m. showed.
Active cases were further reduced to 28.05,399, representing 10.57 percent of total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate improved to 88.30 percent.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease in the country rose to 2,34,25,467 while the fatality rate stood at 1.13 percent, according to the data.
India’s Covid-19 count had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went from 60 lakh on September 28, to 70 lakh on October 11. It crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one crore mark on December 19 last year. India crossed the grim 2 crore milestone on May 4 this year.
According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), as of May 22, 32,86,07,937 samples were tested for COVID-19 with 21,23,782 samples tested on Saturday.
