NDRF Deploys 101 Cyclone Rescue Teams | India News
NEW DELHI: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 50 teams to Gujarat for evacuation and rescue operations in light of the “extremely severe” cyclone making landfall. Tauktae Monday night More than 1.5 lakh people have been evacuated from the coastal districts.
NDRF Director General SN Pradhan has said that based on input received from the meteorological department, Gujarat will have the biggest impact from the cyclone. Pradhan tweeted images of his NDRF teams involved in the evacuation of the villagers in Gir Somnath, Dwarka and Kutch regions of Gujarat.
The NDRF has deployed 101 teams in six states: Kerala, Tamil nadu, Go to, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat. – that have been affected by Cyclone Tauktae. Some of the teams are participating in restoration campaigns in Goa, where the cyclone devastated power poles and uprooted trees, disrupting power and water supplies.
Pradhan said his teams are restoring normalcy to Diu, assisting citizens and local administration in road cleaning and restoration work. tnn
