NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra modi visit Gujarat and Diu on Wednesday to review the situation and the damage caused by the cyclone. Tauktae.
The Prime Minister will carry out an aerial reconnaissance of areas such as Una, Diu, Jafarabad and Mahuva.
It will also hold a review meeting in Ahmedabad after conducting an aerial reconnaissance.
Meanwhile, up to 13 people were killed in Gujarat when Cyclone Tauktae struck parts of the state and left a trail of destruction along the coast.
Tauktae brought heavy rains in many parts along its way from the Saurashtra coast to northern Gujarat, with up to 46 talukas receiving more than 100mm of downpour, while 12 of them recorded 150mm to 175mm of rainfall.
Tauktae has now weakened into a “cyclonic storm” and will gradually turn into a “deep depression” as it moves north, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
