India received 5.5 lakh of Remdesivir vials, 15,801 oxygen cylinders as foreign aid: Center | India News


NEW DELHI: Nineteen oxygen generating plants, 11,321 oxygen concentrators, 15,801 oxygen cylinders and approximately 5.5 lakh of Remdesivir vials received as global aid have been delivered or shipped to various states and union territories from April 27 to 16 May, the Center said Monday.
The government has been receiving international cooperation for Covid-19 relief medical supplies and equipment since April 27 from different countries and organizations.
Through a streamlined and systematic mechanism, various ministries and departments have seamlessly collaborated under a ‘whole of government’ approach to rapidly deliver incoming global aid to union states and territories, the Union Ministry of Health said. .
Altogether, he said, 11,321 oxygen concentrators, 15,801 oxygen cylinders, 19 oxygen generating plants, 7,470 ventilators or Bi-PAPs, and approximately 5.5 lakhs of Remdesivir vials have been delivered or shipped by road and air from the April 27 to May 16.
Major shipments received May 15-16 from Australia, Romania, USA, Kazakhstan, UK, European Union (Germany, Portugal, Slovenia), Qatar, Kuwait, ICBF (Qatar), British Oxygen Company and Medical Aid (UK)) include oxygen concentrators (263), ventilators, Bi-PAP and CPAP (105), oxygen cylinders (2,332), vials of Remdesivir (30,753) and Casirivimab / Imdevimab (20,000), the ministry saiud.
Effective immediate allocation and simplified delivery to host states, union territories and institutions is an ongoing exercise, he said, adding that the process is being monitored on a regular basis.
The ministry said that a cell has been created to coordinate the reception and allocation of aid material from foreign Covid as international cooperation in the form of grants, aid and donations.
This cell began operating on April 26 and the Ministry has drawn up and implemented a Standard Operating Procedure since May 2.
