Congressman Rajeev Satav dies after recovering from Covid-19 | India News


PUNE: Congressman Rajeev Satav died in a private hospital in Pune on Sunday, days after recovering from the coronavirus infection, hospital sources said. He was 46 years old.
Satav was on respiratory support at the hospital after his health deteriorated. He had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 22.
He was later diagnosed with a new viral infection and was in critical condition, they said.
The leader of Congress, Rahul Gandhi, mourned his passing and said it is a great loss to him.
“I am very saddened by the loss of my friend Rajeev Satav. He was a leader with enormous potential who embodied the ideals of Congress. It is a great loss for all of us. My condolences and affection for his family,” he tweeted.

Satav, who hailed from Maharashtra, was considered to be close to the former head of Congress.
He was in charge of party affairs in Gujarat, where Congress had fought vigorously in the last assembly elections.
Condolences came from various sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences on Twitter.

All India Congressional Committee Secretary General KC Venugopal said Congress has lost its front-line warrior, Congressional Working Committee member, MP and very promising young leader.
“I am devastated by the irreparable loss. The party will forever miss his indelible dedication, connection and immense popularity,” he said.
Congressional chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said he has been left speechless due to the loss. “Today I lost a colleague who took the first step of public life with me in the Youth Congress and walked until today … We will always remember the simplicity of Rajeev Satav, always smiling, connected with the base, loyalty and friendship Goodbye my friend. Keep shining, wherever you are, “he tweeted.
Party leader Jairam Ramesh said: “My young colleague Rajeev Satav has passed away from Covid-19 complications. He had been President of the Youth Congress and a deputy in both Houses. Tragic! ” Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said: “We at Rajiv Satav have lost one of our most brilliant colleagues.
