Villager carries his mother’s body alone while others refuse to help | India News


SHIMLA: In a heartbreaking incident in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, a man was forced to carry the body of his Mommy, who died of Covid-19, on his shoulders to the cremation ground as no family member, neither the villagers nor the district administration offered any help for fear of contracting the deadly virus.
The man, identified as Veer Singh, cremated his mother, who was a former uppradhan from Bhangwar panchayat, and died alone in her home on Wednesday.
Distressing images of the man from the Ranital area of ​​the Kangra district walking to the cremation site on Thursday went viral on social media.
In a similar incident in Hamirpur district, a Covid-19 patient died in Bhakredi panchayat and no villagers showed up for the last rites. The son of the deceased, a Covid-19 patient, contacted the local MLA Inderdutt Lakhanpal, who organized the last rites according to the Covid-19 protocol.
The CM said that the administration in question must ensure that the relatives of Covid-19 patients get the full support and cooperation of the district administration to perform the last rites of their dead.
