RAIPUR: Suspicious Maoists beaten and then stabbed death a police officer at Chhattisgarh’s Sukma District On tuesday night. They landed on his doorstep to ask for a tractor and a telephonesaid the victim’s wife.

According to Bhima’s wife, she did not know if her husband’s murderers were Maoists. She claimed to have heard them demand a tractor and a mobile phone from her. Villagers living in the Maoist-infested areas of Chhattisgarh often face such demands from cadres of armed teams.
