CALCUTTA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday that strict measures have been taken to control the spread of Covid-19 in the state, while maintaining that a total lockdown, if imposed, will hamper livelihoods. of people.
He urged the central government to facilitate free vaccination for all.
“We have taken strict measures, a total blockade will hamper the livelihood of the people,” Banerjee said, at a press conference at the secretary of state after the first cabinet meeting of his newly formed government.
The CM further said that its government has requested three million doses of vaccines from Central West Bengal, of which one million will be distributed to private hospitals.
Claiming that peace prevails in the state, Banerjee claimed that his government will act against anyone who circulates false videos about post-release violence.
