Ten states represent more than 71% of new cases of Covid-19 | India News


NEW DELHI: Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi are among the 10 states accounting for 71.75% of the 4.03,738 new Covid-19 cases registered in one day, Union Health, inistry said Sunday.
The other states on the 10 list are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
Maharashtra has reported the highest number of new cases daily with 56,578. Karnataka follows with 47,563, while Kerala reported 41,971 new cases.
So far a total of more than 30.22 million tests have been performed across the country, while the daily rate of positivity for Covid-19 is 21.64%, the ministry said.
India’s total number of active cases has reached 37,36,648 and now comprises 16.76% of the country’s total infections. A net inclination of 13,202 cases has been registered in the total of active cases in a period of 24 hours.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded Rs 16.94 million.
Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karmataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh account for 66.78% of the cumulative doses administered so far in the country, the ministry said.
In total, 17,84,869 beneficiaries in the age group 18 to 44 have received their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
More than 20 lakh of vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
As on the 113th day of the vaccination campaign (May 8), 20,23,532 doses of vaccine were administered.
In 16,722 sessions, 8,37,695 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 11,85,837 beneficiaries received their second dose of vaccine.

The Center has ensured that global aid is allocated and delivered effectively and quickly to states and UT to complement their efforts during this critical phase, the ministry said.
It said 6,608 oxygen concentrators, 3,856 oxygen cylinders, 14 oxygen generating plants, 4,330 ventilators / Bi PAP / C PAP and more than 3 lakh of Remdesivir vials have been delivered or shipped.
