Covid-19: India reports more than 4.03 lakh of new Covid-19 cases, more than 4,092 deaths in the last 24 hours | India News


NEW DELHI: India on Sunday recorded more than 4 lakh of daily Covid-19 cases for the fourth day in a row with a death count exceeding 4,000 for the second day in a row, even as several states imposed strict closures to halt the spread of the coronavirus as it emerges the second wave.
With 4.03,738 new Covid-19 cases added on Sunday, India’s total Covid-19 case count stood at 2.22.96,414, according to Union Health Ministry data updated at 8am.

With 4,092 new deaths, India’s total death toll due to Covid-19 stood at 2.42,362.

By registering a steady increase, active cases rose to 37,36,648, representing 16.76% of total infections, while the national recovery rate of Covid-19 was recorded at 82.15%.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease rose to 1.83,17,404 with 3.86,444 patients recovering in one day, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.09 percent, according to the data.
India’s Covid-19 count had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.
It went from 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one crore mark on December 19.
India crossed the grim 2 million rupee milestone on May 4.
According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), 30,22,75,471 samples have been analyzed as of May 8 and 18,65,428 samples have been analyzed on Saturday.
