Panel likely to meet next week to elect next CBI chief | India News

NEW DELHI: The high power committee meeting to select the director of CBI it is likely to be held next week. The panel was unable to meet so far due to assembly elections in five states. The panel is made up of the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of India and the leader of the largest opposition party in Lok Sabha.
The top CBI post was vacated on February 3 and the additional CBI director was appointed officiating director. As the Center was unable to convene the selection panel meeting in the coming weeks, Congressional panel leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury left for the West Bengal elections that have just ended.
