Need to raise awareness states that vaccination speed does not drop: PM | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reviewed the Covid situation at the state and district levels amid an unprecedented spike in cases.
PM was briefed on the 12 states that have more than one lakh of active Covid-19 cases. He was also informed about districts with a high burden of disease.
“The need to ensure rapid and holistic containment measures was also discussed. PM also reviewed the availability of drugs. He was informed about the rapid increase in drug production, including Remdesivir,” PMO said in a statement.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about the need to sensitize the states so that the speed of vaccination does not drop.
“Vaccination should be made easier for citizens despite closures and health workers involved in vaccination should not be diverted to other tasks,” Prime Minister Modi said.
He also mandated that states should receive help and guidance on key indicators to improve health care infrastructure.
India on Thursday recorded a peak of new cases and deaths in a day with 4,12,262 new infections and 3,980 deaths in the past 24 hours.
