NEW DELHI: Mumbai airport authorities are preparing for a belly landing of an air ambulance after an aircraft tire fell off while taking off.
The authorities are spraying foam on one of the runways to ensure a safe landing of the aircraft.
A Beechcraft King Air C 90 took off from Nagpur to Mumbai with a patient on board, authorities say.
The CISF Nagpur airport personnel saw that an aircraft tire (VT-JIL) came off during take-off from Nagpur runway 32.
“The Jetserv Aviation air ambulance is approaching Mumbai. The crew is burning fuel (to minimize the risk of fire on the belly landing) by floating and they are going to make a belly landing; Do not use the landing gear. Foam is being put on the runway to ward off the fires, “said highly placed sources.
