Live Covid: With 3,780 deaths, India reports the highest number of deaths in a single day; more than 3.82 lakh of registered cases | India News


NEW DELHI: Up to 3,780 people succumbed to the coronavirus in India in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative death toll at 2,26,188. This is the highest single day count so far.
India also recorded 3,823,315 new coronavirus cases in one day, the union’s health ministry said today. With this, the cumulative case count has risen to 2,06,65,148.
The daily peak had reached its peak of more than four lakh of cases on May 1, but yesterday it dropped to 3.57,229 cases.
According to government data, there are currently 34,87,229 active cases of Covid-19 in the country.
The country also witnessed up to 3,38,439 recoveries, bringing cumulative recoveries to 1,69,51,731.
According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), as of May 3, up to 29,48,52,078 samples have been tested for Covid-19, of which 15,41,299 samples were tested on Tuesday.
The total doses of the Covid-19 vaccine administered exceed 16,04,94,188, reported the Ministry of Health.
India is currently grappling with a devastating second wave of Covid-19 that has swept the nation, crushing the country’s healthcare infrastructure and overburdening front-line medical workers.
