Covishield production in full swing, says SII’s Adar Poonawalla | India News


NEW DELHI: Adar Poonawalla, Director of Serum Institute of India (IBS) on Saturday night said production of the Covid-19 Covishield vaccine is in full swing in Pune.
The SII CEO also held a meeting with his partners and stakeholders in the UK.
“I had an excellent meeting with all of our partners and stakeholders in the UK. In the meantime, I am pleased to state that COVISHIELD production is in full swing in Pune. I look forward to reviewing operations upon my return in a few days,” Poonawalla tweeted.

In a major move, SII had lowered the price of its COVID-19 ‘Covishield’ vaccine from Rs 400 to Rs 300 per dose for states on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Interior (MHA) on Wednesday also provided Poonawalla with Category Y security across the country from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Earlier this month, Adar Poonawalla had asked the government for financial help to increase vaccine production.
