J&K Starts Covid-19 Vaccination in Srinagar, Jammu | India News

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir resumed anti-Covid-19 vaccination on Saturday after receiving a new batch of 1.5 lakh 1.5 crore vaccine doses ordered by the administration to serve UT residents, said a senior government official.
According to the official, the Union territory had exhausted its previous quota of the Center’s vaccine earlier in the week.
“The UT received at least 1.5 lakh of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines on Saturday alone and thus began inoculating residents in the 18-45 age group,” said a senior UT official.
The official said vaccination will be in full swing starting Monday at the block level in rural areas. Recipients must first register on the CoWIN app and only then will they be vaccinated, the official added.
The J&K government tweeted: “Covaxin will be administered to this age group (18-45 years) for free. It will be with prior registration and prior appointment. Please do not fill the vaccination centers without an appointment ”.
“Those who have taken Covishield as the first dose should take the second dose of Covishield only,” the official added.
Forty-seven recent Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in UT since Friday night, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 2,330.
