Medical team to combat the wave of Covid-19 from China, reports the Center | India News

NEW DELHI: Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla reported Thursday that some essential medical supplies and equipment to combat the rise of Covid-19 in India are sourced from China.
“We know that a number of companies in India have been sourcing products. I mentioned that the companies that have been active in supplying our priority requirements, be it oxygen generators, concentrators, pharmaceuticals, etc., and some of them come from from China and sourced from China, “Shringla told a special press conference. “Cargo flights are also operating and part of the equipment is coming in, part of it is being acquired, but I think this is part of meeting the requirements as effectively as possible,” he added.
The Foreign Secretary stated that India is fully committed to ensuring that many of this equipment and supplies arrive as quickly as possible.
The development comes after China’s Sichuan Airlines suspended cargo flights to India due to the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in India, the company told Global Times.
However, a logistics arm of Sichuan Airlines decided to resume cargo services to India on Monday. “We are re-evaluating the original plan to suspend cargo services to India and actively discussing a new plan to guarantee cargo services to the region,” the company said in a response sent to the Global Times on Monday.
The worsening Covid-19 situation in India has seen an increase in demand for medical oxygen and beds for patients with many parts of the country reporting an acute shortage of essential medical supplies. Several countries around the world have stepped up to help India as it continues to fight the surge in coronavirus cases.
India once again recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 infections in a single day, recording 3,79,257 new cases along with 3,645 deaths and 2,69,507 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
