“The recently completed shipboard tests off the coast of Chennai in collaboration with the Indian Coast Guard Maintenance activities inside the hangar and on deck, hot refueling with engines running on deck, ”HAL said in a statement.
The helicopter is equipped with the most modern and reliable Shakti engines and an advanced glass cockpit. HAL had recently delivered ALH Dhruv Mk III MR to the Indian Coast Guard as part of its Contract 16 ALH.
“These tests have demonstrated ALH Dhruv’s ability to carry out extended operations from ships. Some of the missions that were successfully executed were surveillance, search and rescue, anti-pollution to tackle the oil spill, etc. With the successful demonstration of these capabilities such as blade folding, stowage, the helicopter is now ready to be dispatched to operations ”, R Madhavan, CMD, HAL, he said.
Dhruv Mk III MR is equipped with the most modern surveillance radar that can detect and identify ships and vessels up to a range of 120 nautical miles to enable the Indian Coast Guard in its duty to protect the nation from threats.
“Together with an electro-optical sensor that can closely monitor even the smallest of ships at distances of up to 30 nautical miles, ALH Dhruv will augment the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard,” added HAL.
