Rahul Gandhi demands free Covid-19 vaccine for all | India News


NEW DELHI: Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi said Monday that all citizens should receive Covid-19 vaccines for free and that the country should not be a “victim of the BJP system.”
India’s vaccination campaign is set to get a big boost from May 1, when all people over the age of 18 will be eligible for the vaccine.
“Enough discussion. All citizens of the country should get vaccinated for free. Do not make India a victim of the BJP system,” he said in a Hindi tweet.
Gandhi and Congress have been calling for free vaccination for all. The party has also criticized the government’s vaccination policy and the handling of the Covid-19 situation in the country.
Maharashtra, which leads the number of cases and deaths in the country, Gujarat, Odisha and Rajasthan have said they will provide free vaccination to all, joining several other states.
However, four states run by Congress and their allies accused the Center of “hijacking” vaccine stocks from manufacturers and expressed doubts that they could launch the inoculation campaign to cover people between the ages of 18 and 45. May 1.
