The Union Secretary of the Interior, Ajay Bhalla, in a letter, instructed the district authorities and asked them to take all necessary steps, as advised by the MoHFW, for the implementation of the containment framework, in order to flatten the curve.
He also said that the orders issued by the respective state governments / UT administrations / district authorities, to impose restrictions, must be widely disseminated to the public and field officials for their effective implementation.
Bhalla said that in the recent past, a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases has been observed along with a high positivity rate.
Consequently, he said, the Ministry of Health has advised all UT states and governments to implement an intensive, local and focused containment framework, focused on districts, cities, specific areas and identified based on prescribed criteria.
“Individual actions such as wearing masks, keeping a distance of 6 feet from others, sanitizing hands frequently, and not attending any mass gatherings.”
“All states / UTs have also been advised to consider an additional graded response based on the local situation, requirements and resources.
“Therefore, I urge you to issue instructions to your state / UT district authorities, to take all necessary steps, as advised by the MoHFW in their letter, for the implementation of the containment framework, in order to flatten the curve”. Bhalla said.
