Oxygen Express train with 30,000 liters of liquid medical oxygen arrives at UP | India News

LUCK: An Oxygen Express train carrying around 30,000 liters of liquid medical oxygen arrived here on Saturday morning as Uttar Pradesh is battling a surge in coronavirus cases, an official said.
The special train carrying two trucks of medical oxygen arrived in the state capital at 6.30am from Bokaro, Jharkhand.
“Two medical oxygen trucks arrived in Lucknow around 6.30am. One of the trucks was unloaded in Varanasi late Saturday. Each truck has a capacity of 15,000 liters,” the additional chief secretary (Interior) told PTI. , Awanish Kumar Awasthi.
He said both trucks can be used for Lucknow and a decision will be made soon.
“The arrival of two medical oxygen trucks will cover about half of Lucknow’s demand for today. Lucknow will be in a better position. The second Oxygen Express left Lucknow at around 5.30am for Bokaro with four tanker trucks,” he said. Awasthi.
On Wednesday, the railways had said they will run their second Oxygen Express to Uttar Pradesh after a request was received from the state government.
On Sunday, Railways announced that it will run Oxygen Express for the next few days to transport oxygen across the country.
Under the initiative, empty tanker trucks will be loaded with liquid medical oxygen from Visakhapatnam, Jamshedpur, Rourkela and Bokaro.
