India becomes the fastest country in the world to administer 14 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine: Government | India News


NEW DELHI: India has become the fastest country to administer 14 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in just 99 days, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
The ministry said the country has administered more than 24 lakh of vaccine doses administered as of 8pm on April 24.
“The cumulative number of doses of the Covid-19 vaccine administered in the country is according to the interim report of 8 pm today,” they said.
These include 92,89,621 health workers (TS) who have taken the first dose and 59,94,401 TS who have taken the second dose, 1,19,42,233 first line workers (PDA) (first dose), 62,77,797 PDA (second dose)), 4,76,41,992 for those over 45 years to 60 years (first dose), 23,22,480 for those over 45 years to 60 years (second dose), 4,96,32,245 for those over 60 years (first dose) and 77,02,025 for those over 60 years (second dose).
A total of 24,22,989 doses of vaccine were administered as of 8 p.m. today, the ninety-ninth day of the Covid-19 vaccination nationwide, the ministry added.
Of which 15,69,631 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 8,53,358 beneficiaries received the second dose of the vaccine according to the interim report. Meanwhile, the national death rate from Covid-19 has declined and currently stands at 1.14 percent, the union’s Health Ministry reported on Saturday.
The death toll stood at 1,66,10,481 with 2,624 deaths reported in 24 hours, of which Maharashtra saw the highest death toll (773) followed by Delhi with 348 deaths daily.
India’s total number of active cases has reached 25,52,940 and now comprises 15.37 percent of the country’s total positive cases. A net inclination of 1,24324 cases of the total active cases in the last 24 hours was recorded.
