PM Modi meets with CM of states with high burden of Covid-19 | India News


NEW DELHI: Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a meeting with the chief ministers of high-burden states on the prevailing Covid-19 situation there. The meeting took place virtually.
Union Minister of the Interior Amit Shah, Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Health Harsh Vardhan and officials from the Ministry of Health were present at the meeting along with senior ministers of the various states.
India recorded 3.32,730 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the highest peak in a single day since the pandemic broke out last year. India has crossed the 3 lakh mark for Covid-19 cases for two consecutive days.
The accumulated cases in the country have now increased to 1,62,63,695.
With 2,263 new deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1.86,920.
