Health Minister should resign: P Chidambaram | India News
NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Friday said Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan should resign due to the cruel negligence of not taking earlier the steps that are being taken now in view of an increase in Covid-19 cases.
“Despite the April 2020 warnings (by Empowered group) and in October-November 2020 (by Parliamentary committee), Why didn’t the government take the measures it has been taking since yesterday?
“Isn’t this gross and callous negligence? Will no one be held responsible? Shouldn’t the Minister of Health and the Secretary of Health be asked to resign?” he asked on Twitter.
The former Union minister said people are crying for patients to enter hospitals, pleading with doctors to examine patients, carrying oxygen cylinders on their back as they carry patients, and hospitals rushing to court superiors in search of oxygen supply.
“If anyone, including the health minister, has a conscience, they should resign immediately,” Chidambaram said.
