CJI Bobde was frank enough to admit that there was not much progress in having more women justices on the supreme court during his tenure.
NAGPUR: Chief Justice of India Sharad bobde, who resigned on Friday after 17 months tenure, said in an exclusive interview to TOI on Friday that Liberty from speech was the most abused right in present. He did not elaborate. He also said that, like any other judicial instrument, public interest litigation was open to misuse.
CJI Bobde he was frank enough to admit that there was not much progress in having more women judges on the supreme court during his tenure. He stressed the need for a better gender balance, but did not go so far as to ask for incentives in the appointment process for the same.
She viewed hearing cases online as a positive thing that improved access to court for all. “I think the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. A litigant from any part of the country can be heard through an online process… ”, he said.
