“To address the exponential increase in demand, the Center has increased the oxygen quota for Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi,” said Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan , On twitter.
He stated that the “supply and demand of oxygen is monitored 24 hours a day.”
The government also assigned the supply of Remdesivir to 19 states / UTs with a high burden of Covid cases.
“Remdesivir is an investigational therapy drug that is administered in acute and severe versions of Covid-19 where oxygen support is essential, this allocation belongs to 14 states to which medical oxygen is assigned and another 5 states where it is being observed the high volume of supplies, “the government said in a statement.
“The government is extending all support to manufacturers in this effort. Production capacity is increasing from the current level of 38 lakh of vials per month to 74 lakh of vials per month, and 20 additional manufacturing sites have been approved. Export of Remdesivir was also banned on April 11 to shore up domestic supply, ”added the ministry.
