Covid: France Imposes 10-Day Quarantine for Indian Travelers; Air India cuts flights to London | India News

NEW DELHI: Several nations have begun imposing new restrictions on travelers from India as the country battles a deadly second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Travelers from India to France will now have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine upon arrival, travel industry officials said.
India has an air bubble agreement with France under which Air India and Air France operate flights between the two countries.
Air France has 10 weekly flights connecting Paris with Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Airlines will resume international flights starting May 17 with the exclusion of 20 countries, including India, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and South Africa.
Air India said on Wednesday that it canceled most of its flights between India and the UK from April 24-30.
Due to reduced travel eligibility after the UK placed India on the Red List of Covid Risk Countries, Air India, which operated 13 weekly flights to and from the UK, will operate only one between Delhi, Mumbai and London during this period.
With India on the red list, Indian citizens will not be able to enter the UK after 8.30am (India time) on Friday. And British citizens will need to be quarantined in a hotel upon arrival in the UK for 10 days.
“Passengers who were going to travel between India and the UK, please note that in view of the recent restrictions announced by the UK, flights to / from the UK were canceled from 24 to 30 April 2021. New updates on rescheduling, refunds and exemptions will be reported shortly. Between 24 and 30 April, we are in the process of scheduling a weekly flight to the UK from Delhi and Mumbai. Information on this will also be updated … ”Air India tweeted on Wednesday.
“Due to restrictions implemented by the UK authorities, the following flights scheduled for April 24-30 were canceled: AI131 / AI130 Mumbai-London-Mumbai. AI161 / AI162 Delhi-London-Delhi. AI131 / AI178 Mumbai-London-Bengaluru and AI177 / AI130 Bengaluru-London-Mumbai ”, he added.
In the red list countries, the UK government has issued a statement on its website: “If you have been to any of the (red list countries) in the last 10 days, you will be denied entry to the UK United. If you are a British or Irish citizen, or have UK residence rights, you will be able to enter. He must be quarantined in a government approved hotel for 10 days. ”
The reduced entry eligibility rules will reduce the 30 weekly flights (15 each from Indian and British airlines) operated by Air India, Vistara, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
