Mos VK Singh requests a bed for his Covid positive brother
The Minister of State for the Transport Ministry and former Army Chief General VK Singh (Retd) tagged DM Ghaziabad in a tweet on Sunday, requesting that a bed be made available for his brother.
The former Army chief’s tweet immediately went viral, with many pointing to the tweet to highlight the seriousness of the situation in the country.

Less than 100 ICU beds left in Delhi, facing oxygen shortage: Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that there are less than 100 empty ICU beds in Delhi hospitals and the situation is getting worse by the minute.
He said he spoke with Union Interior Minister Amit Shah this morning and highlighted the need for more beds available.
Kejriwal also said that around 25,500 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Delhi and that the positivity rate has risen to almost 30 percent in the last 24 hours.
India’s Covid positivity rate doubles to 16.69% in 12 days, says government
The daily coronavirus positivity rate in India over the past 12 days has doubled to 16.69%, while the weekly positivity rate has risen to 13.54% in the past month, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
Ten states – Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan – reported 78.56 percent of new infections, it said.
“The daily positivity rate in the last 12 days has doubled from 8% to 16.69%,” the ministry said in a statement. “The national weekly positivity rate has increased from 3.05% to 13.54% in the last month.”
More than 2.61,000 new cases in the last 24 hours, 1501 deaths
India reported a record 2.61,500 new coronavirus cases and 1,501 deaths on Sunday, while active cases have passed the 18 lakh mark, according to ministry data.
Sunday’s rise marks the 39th consecutive day that cases have increased in the country. Active cases, amounting to 18.01.316, comprise 12.18% of total infections, while the national recovery rate from Covid-19 dropped to 86.62%, the ministry said.
