India Records Highest Single Day Increase of 2.61,500 Cases, 1,501 Deaths | India News
Active cases have passed the 18 lakh mark, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.
India also reported 1,501 new deaths in the past 24 hours. With this, the death toll in the country from the virus has risen to 1,77,150.
Sunday’s rise marks the 39th consecutive day that cases have increased in the country.
Active cases, amounting to 18.01.316, comprise 12.18% of total infections, while the national recovery rate from Covid-19 dropped to 86.62%, the ministry said.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 1,28,09,643, while the fatality rate dropped further to 1.20%, according to the data.
India’s COVID-19 count had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.
It went from 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one crore mark on December 19.
