Bengal people want a white beard, not a white saree: Dilip Ghosh | India News

BARDHAMAN: In an apparent mockery of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BJP Head of State Dilip Ghosh said on Sunday that people want the white beard and not the white sari.
Ghosh’s reference to the white beard is apparently that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Supreme TMC, on the other hand, is famous for its signature white saree and Hawaiian slippers.
“The white sari and Hawaiian slippers have fooled the people of West Bengal for a long time. That won’t happen now. They don’t want the white sari anymore, what they need is the white beard, which will be built by Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal),” he said, while addressing an election rally in the Bhatar constituency in the Purba Bardhaman district.
He said that elections in West Bengal will not need to be held under the security provided by central forces after the BJP comes to power in the state.
“We will straighten the spine of the state police that has been bent by forcibly making the political agent of the ruling party,” Ghosh said.
He also toured the Ausgram, Purbasthali and Mangalkot seats in the district.
These constituencies will go to the polls in the sixth phase on April 22. The results of the elections to the 294 seats of the assembly in the state will be announced on May 2.
